Parcel arrives at the exchange office
The parcel lands at an international postal exchange point (IMPO). Customs control is automated — for roughly nine out of ten parcels it ends with an instant release.

Value and weight check
Customs compares the declaration with the data: goods price plus shipping against the €200 limit, parcel weight against 31 kg. No excess — the parcel moves on the same day.

Payment notice arrives
If limits are exceeded, the postal operator (Russian Post, CDEK and others) sends you a notice: the duty amount, payment link and deadline. The parcel waits for your decision.

Pay online — parcel continues
Payment takes a couple of minutes online, and the parcel automatically continues to your address. Unpaid parcels are returned to the sender after the storage period.
Frequently asked questions
Do I pay duty on an auto part from AliExpress under €200?
No. A parcel within the limits (€200 by value and 31 kg by weight) clears customs duty-free — the processing is automatic. Virtually every auto part in our catalog costs well below the limit, so for a typical order of 1–3 items no customs payments arise at all.
What if the order costs more than €200?
The duty is "15% of the excess" — for a €260 order that is €9 (15% of €60). If the weight excess yields more (€2 for each kg above 31 kg), the larger amount applies. A practical tip: large orders are often cheaper split into two parcels — the limit applies to each parcel separately.
Is the limit counted per parcel or per month?
Per parcel. Monthly quotas (previously €1000 and 31 kg per month) were abolished back in 2020: every international mail item is assessed individually. So three parcels of €150 each in one month pass duty-free, while a single €450 parcel triggers a payment.
Who pays the duty and how does it work?
The recipient. When the limit is exceeded, the postal operator (Russian Post, CDEK and others) sends a notice with the amount and an online payment link. After payment the parcel continues automatically. AliExpress itself does not collect customs duty — it is a separate payment to the state, not to the seller or the marketplace.
What value does customs count?
Customs value = goods price plus shipping cost. The conversion into rubles uses the exchange rate on the day the parcel is accepted by customs. That is why understating the price "at the seller's suggestion" is risky: with a questionable declaration customs can assess the parcel on its own — and that stalls the delivery far longer than the duty would have cost.
